It seems as if James Harden is finally happy with where he is.
Per Marc Stein of The Stein Line, Harden is expected to re-sign with the Los Angeles Clippers after the season, continuing to team up with star forwards Paul George and Kawhi Leonard.
Harden is eligible to become an unrestricted free agent after the season. He was acquired by the Philadelphia 76ers in November after demanding a trade.
But in LA, he has been happy and productive.
“While James Harden (ineligible for an in-season contract extension) must wait until the summer before he, too, is expected to extend his stay in Clipperland,” Stein wrote.
Harden, 34, is averaging 17.0 points, 4.6 rebounds, 8.4 assists, 1.3 steals and 0.9 blocks while shooting 46 percent from the field and 42 percent on 3-pointers. He has 10 double-doubles on the year, and after a rocky start, the Clippers have resembled a true contender since adding Harden to the lineup.
Leonard signed a three-year, $150 million extension last week. George is expected to sign an extension soon too.
“I think for the most part, everybody is coming back,” Leonard told reporters after signing his extension. “With me signing the extension, I think it gives us a chance to sign both of those players.”
Harden carries NBA career averages of of 24.4 points, 5.6 rebounds, 7.1 assists, 1.5 steals and 0.6 blocks with the Oklahoma City Thunder, Houston Rockets, Brooklyn Nets, Sixers and Clippers. He has made seven All-NBA teams and was named 2017-18 NBA MVP while with Houston.
