The Charlotte Hornets intend to sign center Marques Bolden to a 10-day contract, agent Michael Johnson Jr. told Shams Charania of The Athletic.
Bolden, 25, was on a two-way contract with the Milwaukee Bucks earlier this season and has spent time with the Cleveland Cavaliers. He has appeared in a total of nine NBA games (including seven with the Cavs).
Bolden was waived by the Bucks before his full-time salary could become guaranteed on Jan. 7. He has spent most of this season playing for the Wisconsin Herd of the G League, averaging 13.3 points and 7.7 rebounds.
Over the past six games, he’s averaged 17.0 points and 13.8 rebounds, with the Herd winning all six, Charania noted.
The Hornets (13-41) are in the midst of another lost season and looking to build for next year. They’re definitely shorthanded in the middle, with center Mark Williams missing time with a back issue. So the door may be open for Bolden, a Duke product, to earn some minutes.
