Just when things were going really well for Raptors forward OG Anunoby, he suffered a hip pointer in practice and joined the long list of the team’s injuries to key players this season.
And now, Anonuby could be out for an extended amount of time, coach Nick Nurse told reporters on Thursday.
“They just said it’s a hip pointer and according to Alex McKechnie (Raptors vice president of player health and performance), it’ll be a while,” Nurse said.
Anunoby, 24, is 6-foot-7 and is having a career season, averaging 20.1 points and 2.7 assists — both career-highs. He also often draws the Raptors’ toughest defensive assignment.
Toronto (7-9) just recently got back forward Pascal Siakam, who had bee rehabbing following offseason shoulder surgery.
“It seems like we’ve had a minimum of three or four guys out for every game this year,” Nurse said. “It’s a little frustrating but what do you do? We’ve had to take some steps back and reconfigure but that’s part of it.”
“But gosh, I’d love to see the team whole at some point.”
As for Anunoby specifically, Nurse said he is disappointed with the diagnosis.
