Pelicans point guard Kira Lewis Jr. has been lost for the season after suffering a torn ACL and a Grade 2 MCL sprain in his right knee, the team announced.
He suffered the injury during the second quarter of Wednesday’s loss to the Nuggets.
Lewis, 20, is 6-foot-1 and averaging 5.9 points and 2.0 assists in his second season (24 games). He was originally drafted by the Pelicans with the No. 13 overall pick in 2020.
Minus Lewis, the Pelicans will continue to rely on starters Devonte’ Graham and Josh Hart, as well as Nickeil Alexander-Walker and Tomas Satoransky to help handle point guard duties.
They could also potentially call up someone from the G League or sign a veteran free agent. You can check out our list of available veterans right here.
