Pistons forward Jerami Grant suffered a UCL ligament sprain in his right thumb and will be out at least six weeks, the team announced.
Grant, 27, is 6-foot-8 and leads the Pistons in scoring at 20.1 points. So needless to say, this is a massive blow to an already struggling team, which entered Sunday’s game vs. the Nets with a miserable 4-21 record.
Grant suffered the injury in the first quarter of Friday’s road loss to the Pelicans, “after he fell to the court and appeared to land on the thumb,” wrote the Detroit News’ Rod Beard. Grant returned to the game with a wrap on his hand/thumb.
Pistons coach Dwane Casey told reporters “it’ll take a collective effort” to replace Grant.
