The Mavericks have agreed to a contract with forward Marquese Chriss, according to Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports.
Chriss, 24, is 6-foot-9 and appeared in two games with the Warriors last season, and 59 the season before that. He has also spent time with the Cavaliers, Rockets and Suns since being drafted with the No. 8 overall pick in 2016.
He suffered a broken fibula last season, leading to his limited time with Golden State. He was later traded to the Spurs and waived, the attended training camp with the Trail Blazers before the start of this season.
As we relayed earlier, the Mavs are also signing shooting guard Theo Pinson to a 10-day contract. Both Chriss and Pinson are presumably being signed via the NBA’s hardship exemption.
The Mavericks (14-15) have two players in health and safety protocols — Reggie Bullock and Josh Green, “so adding Pinson or Chriss will help them fill out the back of their active roster in the short term,” wrote Luke Adams of Hoops Rumors. “Neither deal will count against the team’s cap.”
