The Hawks have officially signed guard/forward Lance Stephenson and forward Malcolm Hill, the team announced in a press release.
Stephenson was called up from the G League, where he was playing with the Grand Rapids Gold, the Nuggets’ minor league affiliate. He is carrying averages of 19.7 points and 7.8 rebounds with the Gold
Stephenson, 31, is 6-foot-6 and has extensive NBA experience. But he hasn’t played in the league since the 2018-19 season — when he averaged 7.2 points and 3.2 rebounds in 68 games with the Lakers. After that, he spent some time with the Liaoning Flying Leopards of the Chinese Basketball Association.
He made a name for himself with the Pacers, but has also served stints with the Timberwolves, Pelicans, Grizzlies, Clippers and Hornets. He’s actually played for Indiana on two separate occasions.
Hill is also 6-6, and has appeared in 14 games with the Birmingham Squadron, the Pelicans’ affiliate. He is averaging 16.9 points and 6.1 rebounds.
Trae Young, Clint Capela, Danilo Gallinari, Lou Williams and Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot were the Hawks in health and safety protocols as of Wednesday morning.
