The G League has pushed back the start of its regular season from Dec. 27 to Jan. 5, the league announced in a press release.
There have been multiple call-ups, given the massive amount of NBA players entering health and safety protocols. The delayed start will offer G League teams “an opportunity to safely return players to market after the Christmas holiday and to replenish their rosters following NBA Call-Ups,” the league announced.
“Information regarding games originally scheduled between Dec. 27 and Jan. 4 will be provided at a later date.”
Granted, there have already been some G League games this season, but those were part of the Showcase Cup tournament, recently concluded following the Winter Showcase.
Results from the Showcase Cup will be reset for the regular season, which is scheduled to run through April.
