The Heat intend to sign guard/forward Nik Stauskas to a 10-day contract via the hardship exception, according to Mike Singer of the Denver Post.
Stauskas, 28, is 6-foot-6 and actually had a deal in place to join the Raptors earlier this month, but the deal fell through after Stauskas failed the COVID screening process.
He had been playing for the Grand Rapids Gold of the G League, the Nuggets’ affiliate. In 12 games with Grand Rapids, Stauskas is averaging 21.3 points, 5.8 rebounds and 4.4 assists.
He becomes the Heat’s fourth hardship signing, joining Haywood Highsmith, Kyle Guy and Aric Holman.
Miami had a whopping 12 players unavailable for their game Wednesday vs. the Spurs, causing the game to be postponed.
The well-traveled Stauskas has also played for the Cavaliers, Trail Blazers, Nets, 76ers and Kings.
