The Cavaliers are in serious talks with the Lakers on a potential trade centered on Rajon Rondo, Hoops Wire sources confirmed.
The Cavs are seeking a veteran point guard after losing Ricky Rubio to a season-ending ACL tear in his left knee.
Along with the Lakers, the Cavs have held talks with several other teams since finding out the extent of Rubio’s injury. It is believed the Rockets, 76ers, Pacers and Raptors were among those teams.
Rondo, 35, is 6-foot-1 and has appeared in 18 games with the Lakers, averaging 3.1 points. He is still considered one of the NBA’s feistiest backcourt defenders.
The talks with the Lakers were first reported by Shams Charania of The Athletic.
Hoops Wire will have more on this story as it develops.
