An anonymous Los Angeles Lakers Summer League player ripped Bronny James during a conversation with NBA reporters Steve Brenner and Damian Burchardt of The U.S. Sun.
Bronny is the son of Lakers superstar LeBron James.
“I mean, he was treated as someone apart, not like all of us, and that is very annoying as we didn’t feel any chemistry in this group of players,” the player said. “I ended up being very frustrated because I was never put in the best situation, or even put in some plays or game plans because they wanted Bronny to show his skills and shine.”
Bronny was the 55th overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft. He signed a four-year, $7.9 million contract with the Lakers.
“If you talk to any other player that was part of the roster of the California Classic and the Summer League, most of them would tell you the same thing,” the player said. “The tensions were visible, and pretty much we were all thinking about the end of the Summer League to get out of here and focus on our next step in our careers.”
Bronny averaged 3.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.5 blocks while shooting 25.0% from the field and 25.0% from beyond the arc in two California Classic Games.
LeBron’s son then averaged 8.7 points, 3.5 rebounds, 1.0 assists, 0.7 steals and 0.5 blocks while shooting 35.0% overall and 15.8% from 3 in four games in Las Vegas during Summer League.
“He is not ready for all this, and he isn’t ready for the NBA in my opinion,” the player said.
Bronny suffered a cardiac arrest last year. He fully recovered and played for USC this past college season, averaging 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 0.8 steals and 0.2 blocks while shooting 36.6% from the field, 26.7% from beyond the arc and 67.6% from the free-throw line.
No father has played with or against his son in the NBA. LeBron and Bronny will make NBA history in 2024-25.
