LeBron, 39, is the oldest player in the NBA. He turns 40 in December.

“Amazement. And respect. And appreciation,” Blatt told Donatas Urbonas of Basketnews. “That he can continue doing what he does at this level with such enthusiasm, effort, and commitment. It’s, you know… it’s really unbelievable. It really is. Respect, respect.”

Blatt coached LeBron on the Cavaliers for 123 games before getting fired in January 2016. Cleveland went 83-40 in the regular season and 14-6 in the playoffs under Blatt.

The Cavaliers reached the NBA Finals in 2015 under Blatt, losing to the Golden State Warriors in six games.

Tyronn Lue replaced Blatt in 2015-16. Cleveland defeated Golden State in the 2016 Finals, becoming the first team in NBA history to erase a 3-1 series deficit in the Finals.

Team USA is 2-0 in the Olympics thus far. They beat Serbia and South Sudan.

LeBron carried the USA flag at the Olympics opening ceremony. The King was the first men’s basketball player to carry the flag for Team USA.

“It’s an incredible honor to represent the United States on this global stage, especially in a moment that can bring the whole world together,” LeBron said. “For a kid from Akron, this responsibility means everything to not only myself, but to my family, all the kids in my hometown, my teammates, fellow Olympians and so many people across the country with big aspirations. Sports have the power to bring us all together, and I’m proud to be a part of this important moment.”

The leading scorer in NBA history, LeBron is a four-time MVP, a four-time Finals MVP and a four-time champion. He has career averages of 27.1 points, 7.5 rebounds, 7.4 assists, 1.5 steals and 0.7 blocks with the Cavaliers, Miami Heat and Los Angeles Lakers.
