The Suns are signing center/forward Bismack Biyombo for the remainder of the season, per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
Biyombo, 29, is 6-foot-8 and was signed to a 10-day deal week. Since then, he has appeared in two games and helped Phoenix overcome the loss of starting center Deandre Ayton and backup JaVale McGee, both in health and safety protocols at the time of Biyombo’s signing.
In two games with the Suns, Biyombo is averaging 13.5 points and 6.0 rebounds, and has proven to be a strong protector at the rim defensively.
The No. 7 overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft, he has also spent time with the Hornets, Magic and Raptors.
“He is among a large group of players who received NBA opportunities under the hardship provision as a result of a COVID-19 outbreak over the past month,” wrote Luke Adams of Hoops Rumors. “The Suns needed immediate help in the middle with Frank Kaminsky and Dario Saric sidelined as well by long-term injuries.”
