Raptors Sign DJ Wilson To Second 10-Day Deal

The Raptors are signing power forward D.J. Wilson to a second 10-day contract, the team announced in a press release.DJ Wilson

So far, Wilson has appeared in two games with Toronto, averaging an impressive 12.0 points and 7.0 rebounds.

Wilson, 25, is 6-foot-10 and had been playing with the G League’s Oklahoma City Blue for the first part of the season. In 14 games with the Blue, he averaged 14.4 points and 9.6 boards.

He has also spent time in the NBA with the Rockets and Bucks. Last season, he appeared in 23 games with Houston and 12 with Milwaukee.

“He’s been playing well so hopefully he can continue to,” Raptors guard Fred VanVleet said of Wilson recently. “It’s kind of like that shiny new toy thing where we got guys coming in that’s a breath of fresh air, show some flashes, maybe something that we don’t have and just having more bodies and more activity. But he’s played well in his stint so far and hopefully, we can use him going forward.”

Wilson entered health and safety protocols shortly after his first 10-day with the Raptors, but is apparently a-OK to go now.

“A former first-round pick, Wilson will earn $102,831 during his second 10-day stint with Toronto,” wrote Luke Adams of Hoops Rumors. “That money won’t count toward team salary for cap or tax purposes, since it’s a hardship signing. His contract will run through January 16, covering the team’s next five games.”
