Cavs Have NBA’s Fourth Highest Year-Over-Year Ticket Price Increase

Like most places, the Cavaliers are really determined to charge you for a good time. Or something like that.

But that’s just how business works. The more people are willing to pay, the more you charge. Or something like that.

Anyway, the point here is that the Cavs have been among the league leaders in increasing ticket prices each season, per Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports.

Interestingly, those ahead of them aren’t exactly the New Yorks and LAs of the pro basketball world, either.

“According to Vivid Seats, the teams with the highest year-over-year increase in ticket prices, are as follows — San Antonio, Memphis, Atlanta, Cleveland, and Portland,” Fischer said on the Yahoo Sports Ball Don’t Lie Podcast. 

So, there you have it.

Now, full disclosure — I haven’t kept up on ticket prices to NBA games because I get in for free. (And just to rub it in, I’m actually PAID to go.) But a quick check of Seat Geek revealed that Cavaliers half-season prices range from $1,239 to $3,950. That’s an average of about $62 to $200 per game.

Under no circumstance would I pay $200 to go to just ONE of anything. And if I did, it would be a rock concert, not a basketball game.

This isn’t to discourage anyone from buying Cavs tickets. To each their own, and some of my most cherished memories involve attending sporting events with my father or other family members.

This is just to point out where the Cavs stand in terms of raising ticket prices. Lately, they’ve put a pretty good product out there.

But what’s it worth? Only you can decide.
