According to NBA reporter Evan Dammarell of Right Down Euclid, the Cleveland Cavaliers received multiple offers for Darius Garland and Jarrett Allen this offseason.

The Cavaliers never thought the return was worth what they already had.

“That might be unpleasant for some who wanted to see Cleveland flip Garland and Allen for new faces,” Dammarell wrote. “Unfortunately, it’s also the reality of the situation for the NBA 2K armchair general managers and bored Browns influencers. Several league sources recently shared with Right Down Euclid that although the Cavaliers received multiple offers from teams for either player, Cleveland never thought the return was worth what they already had.”

Garland averaged 18.0 points, 2.7 rebounds, 6.5 assists, 1.3 steals and 0.1 blocks last season for the Cavaliers while shooting 44.6% from the field, 37.1% from beyond the arc and 83.4% from the free-throw line. He’ll make $36.7 million next season.

Meanwhile, Allen averaged 16.5 points, 10.5 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 0.7 steals and 1.1 blocks in 2023-24 while shooting 63.4% from the field and 74.2% from the free-throw line. He’ll make $20 million next season.

The Cavaliers signed Allen to a three-year, $91 million extension this offseason.

According to NBA reporter Chris Fedor of Cleveland.com, Cleveland believes Allen is its most “indispensable” player.

The Boston Celtics beat the Cavaliers in the second round of the 2024 playoffs in five games. Allen missed the entire series with a rib injury.

“What people tend to say in this organization is that Jarrett’s the most indispensable player that they have,” Fedor said on the Wine and Gold Talk podcast. “That they just cannot function at the same high level offensively and defensively without Jarrett and the numbers bear that out. They are a different team at both ends of the floor when he is not healthy, when he’s in foul trouble, when he’s off the court.”

The Cavaliers are committed to building around Garland, Allen, Donovan Mitchell and Evan Mobley. Mitchell and Mobley signed extensions with Cleveland this offseason as well.
