The Pistons’ trade for Nuggets center Bol Bol has been voided after Bol failed his physical in Detroit.
The trade originally had the Pistons sending guard/forward Rodney McGruder and a 2022 second-round pick (via the Nets) to the Nuggets in exchange for Bol. But again, that announced deal is off.
Bol, 22, is 7-foot-2 and has appeared in just 14 games with the Nuggets this season. The Pistons likely would have offered him a shot at increased minutes. There’s no word on if the Nuggets will still try to move him.
“In general, after trade calls happen and become official with the NBA, there’s usually a window in the following days where the involved players must pass a physical,” wrote Mike Singer of The Denver Post. “That’s where the issue arose.”
Singer added that McGruder even joined the Nuggets this week and participated in shootaround with the team.
McGruder, 30, is 6-4 and given the Nuggets’ intentions to be a playoff contender, could offer some help in reserve and at practice. He has appeared in 17 games and is averaging 2.5 points.
Bol is the son of the late Manute Bol, a 7-foot-7 Dinka tribesman who played in the NBA in the late-1980s and 1990s.
