Sixers Signing Lester Quinones To Two-Way Contract

The 76ers intend to sign guard Lester Quinones to a two-way contract, per Shams Charania of The Athletic.Lester Quinones, Warriors, 76ers, NBA

Quinones, 23, is 6-foot-5 and spent most of last season on a two-way deal with the Warriors, before being promoted to the standard roster in February. Last season with the Santa Cruz Warriors of the G League, he averaged 21.0 points, 6.2 rebounds and 3.9 assists, shooting 36.2% on 3-pointers, in 65 games.

He also averaged 4.4 points, 1.9 rebounds, and 1.0 assists in 37 appearances with Golden State.

As for the 76ers, there currently is no two-way spot available, as they’re already at the league limit of three. So either Justin EdwardsDavid Jones, or Jeff Dowtin will have to be released before Quinones can officially sign. He could also compete for a standard roster spot, Charania noted.

Undrafted out of Memphis in 2022, Quinones initially signed a two-way deal with the Warriors, but was waived before the 2022-23 season.

Of course, the big news involving Philadelphia this offseason was the signing of star forward Paul George, formerly of the Clippers. They also added veterans Caleb Martin, Andre Drummond, Eric Gordon and Reggie Jackson. So Quinones is joining a team with championship aspirations.

The Sixers open training camp on Tuesday.
