The Nuggets have waived forwards Gabe McGlothan and Jaylin Williams, and guard Jahmir Young, per the NBA transactions log. All three players were signed to Exhibit 10 contracts for training camp.
McGlothan, Williams and Young are now likely headed to the Grand Rapids Gold of the G League.
Young played in a Nuggets’ preseason game against the Celtics in Abu Dhabi, and his 14 minutes were much more than the other two. McGlothan played for just three seconds and Williams — who’s not to be confused with the Thunder player with the same name — didn’t get in either preseason game.
Denver’s roster stands at 18 following the moves, with 15 guaranteed contracts and three two-way players.
An Exhibit 10 contract is a non-guaranteed minimum-salary deal. It doesn’t count toward a team’s cap unless the player makes the final roster. It also can be converted to a two-way deal before the season begins or mean guaranteed money if a player is waived and then stays on the G League club for at least 60 days.
The Nuggets, like all NBA teams, will certainly have more minor moves in the coming days, including signing big man Charles Bediako, formerly of Alabama and the GH League’s Gold. That is also expected to be a move that will result in Badiako playing in Grand Rapids.
Denver lost to the Timberwolves in the Western Conference semifinals one year after winning the championship. A return to true title contention is undoubtedly expected this season.
