Heat Make Pair Of Roster Moves

The Heat have signed center Warren Washington to an Exhibit 10 training camp contract and waived guard Caleb Daniels from the same type of deal, per the NBA transactions log.Caleb Daniels, Heat, NBA

Washington, a 7-footer out of Texas Tech, went undrafted in 2024 after a college career that included stops at Oregon State, Nevada, and Arizona State. He averaged 8.1 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 1.1 blocks across 134 games, but it wasn’t enough to hear his name called on draft night.

Still, the Heat saw enough in him to give him a shot in Summer League, where he logged 14 points and 13 rebounds in six appearances.

The signing is likely just a formality, as Washington is almost certainly be waived before the season and head to the Heat’s G League affiliate, the Sioux Falls Skyforce. If he stays there at least 60 days, he’s in line for a $77.5K bonus. It’s the kind of deal that gives the Heat flexibility with a young big man, a position where they could always use depth down the road.

Meanwhile, Daniels is also on the move, but his destination is a bit more familiar. He averaged 12.3 points on 36.8% shooting on 3-pointers last season for the Skyforce, helping them land the No. 2 seed in the Western Conference playoffs. He was also a key contributor to Miami’s Summer League championship team, averaging 6.0 points over seven games.

Daniels even had a brief preseason run, posting eight points and grabbing nine boards in his lone appearance. But with the Heat’s roster now at 21 players, he’s the odd man out. Expect Daniels to return to Sioux Falls, where he’ll likely look to build on last year’s success and hope for another shot at the NBA.
