The 76ers have waived forward/center Isaiah Mobley, according to the RealGM NBA transactions log.
Along with Mobley, the Sixers waived guard Judah Mintz, power forward Max Fielder and forward Justin Tucker. All three players were on Exhibit 10 contracts for training camp and are likely headed to the Delaware Blue Coats of the NBA G League.
Mobley, 24, is 6-foot-8 and was selected by the Cavaliers with the No. 49 overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft out of USC. He has appeared in a total of 22 NBA games over his two seasons, averaging 2.5 points and 1.4 rebounds.
The older brother of Cavs starter Evan Mobley, Isaiah Mobley signed a two-way contract each of the previous two summers. He did not this summer — and was not a member of the Cavs’ summer league roster after the team didn’t make a qualifying offer.
That made Mobley an unrestricted free agent.
“I know my time is coming,” Mobley said at the end of last season, via Jackson Flickinger of SB Nation. “I just try to keep getting better and be ready for my opportunities when they come. But yeah, I want it to be now or tomorrow. But you know, that’s out of my control. I don’t let it really bother me.”
An Exhibit 10 contract is a non-guaranteed minimum-salary deal. It doesn’t count toward a team’s cap unless the player makes the final roster. It also can be converted to a two-way deal before the season begins or mean guaranteed money if a player is waived and then stays on the G League club for at least 60 days.
