Cavs Breakdown: What To Watch For After Promising Season-Opener

Well, we’re one game in, and if the season ended today, the Cavaliers would be near the top of the NBA.

Yes, that’s a poor attempt at humor, but you can’t argue with this fact — the Cavs looked great in smashing the Raptors in Toronto on Wednesday. Was it real, or just an aberration? I joined Andy Baskin and Jeff Phelps of 92.3 The Fan to discuss all that and a whole lot more. Listen on The Fan website or in the little player directly below.

Now, I’ve already written extensively about the first game of the season, and it really was only one game. Even if the Cavs didn’t make the playoffs, we’d be doing this all the way until April. If they make it, and I assume they will, we’ll be doing it until at least May.

Hey, who knows? Maybe June is in the cards. As I’ve said, I’m not ruling it out. And I said that long before the utter domination on opening night.

Anyway, one of the big keys here isn’t exactly a big secret. That would be none other than Evan Mobley, who the Cavs expect to get to another level this season. If that (and several other things) should happen, then yeah, the sky’s the limit.

The key is beating teams with winning records and establishing a belief that you can get it done when it means the most. That’s something Cleveland didn’t do nearly enough last season.
