Bulls’ Lonzo Ball Sidelined Yet Again, This Time By Wrist Injury

Lonzo Ball just can’t catch a break. After two long years battling knee issues, Ball is back on the injury report — this time with a right wrist sprain. The Bulls announced that he’ll be re-evaluated in 10 days, meaning Ball will miss at least six games as he works to recover.Lonzo Ball, Bulls, NBA

It’s a tough blow for both Ball and the Bulls, as he’d finally returned to action after an absence stretching back to January 2022.

The injury occurred in Monday’s game against Memphis, with Ball going down in the first quarter. Remarkably, he fought through the pain, logging a season-high 18 minutes off the bench. He finished with six points, six assists, and no turnovers — showing the exact type of floor leadership Chicago had been missing.

But now, Ball faces yet another stretch on the sidelines, a frustrating setback as he looks to get his career back on track.

In three games this season, Ball was averaging 4.7 points, 3.7 assists, and 2.7 rebounds in just under 16 minutes per game, a modest stat line but one that hinted at his growing comfort on the court.

The Bulls had been gradually ramping up his minutes, hopeful that he could eventually return to a key rotational role. With his four-year, $80 million contract expiring at the end of the season, this year was set to be an opportunity for Ball to showcase his value.

Now, Chicago will have to wait and see how his wrist responds, while Ball has to work through yet another injury hurdle. For a player who’s been through so much just to get back on the court, this is a blow. And for the Bulls, who need his playmaking and defensive IQ, it’s another challenge to navigate early in the season.
