Pistons forward Jerami Grant is said to be available ahead of Thursday’s trade deadline, and it has also been reported that the Pistons are OK with keeping him.
But until all of that is decided, it appears multiple opponents ae checking in with Pistons GM Troy Weaver and seeing what it may take to land Grant.
As we relayed recently, one of those teams is the Jazz — though it’s hard to know how interested they remain. We have also written on the Wizards’ interest, as well as the Trail Blazers’ interest, and even the Kings’ interest.
And according to James Edwards III of The Athletic, the Wizards, Kings and Blazers ae the three teams showing the most interest in Grant, as of now.
Along with the aforementioned, the Nets have also “poked around” in exploring a possible Grant deal, per Edwards. But any such deal involving Brooklyn would appear to be a long shot.
Grant, 27, is 6-foot-8 and averaging 19.3 points and 4.8 rebounds in 28 games. He underwent surgery on his right thumb in December and missed a long stretch. But he will be available to help whoever — either the Pistons or someone else — after the trade deadline.
Several league sources have told Hoops Wire they don’t think Detroit will get what it’s seeking in exchange for Grant, so he stands a good chance to remain a Piston after the deadline.
Then again, this is trade season and there really is no such thing as an accurate prediction. It’s all guessing. And all we really know is Grant is receiving tons of interest.
