Blazers Continue To Talk Jerami Grant Trade With Pistons

The Trail Blazers have undergone a major face lift within the past week, including agreeing on a trade that will send guard CJ McCollum to the Pelicans. (Full post.)Jerami Grant

But they may not be finished.

Per Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report, Blazers interim GM Joe Cronin remains engaged in conversations with the Pistons about a trade centered on available forward Jerami Grant. Portland has actually been linked to Grant for several weeks.

Along with McCollum, the Blazers have traded guard Norman Powell, and forwards Robert Covington, Larry Nance Jr. and Tony Snell since last week. They have acquired multiple new faces in the process, some of which may or may not have a future with the franchise.

That list consists of guards Josh HartTomas SatoranskyNickeil Walker-Alexander, small forward Didi Louzada (via the Pelicans), and guard Eric Bledsoe, guard/forward Justise Winslow and small forward Keon Johnson (via the Clippers).

Meanwhile, there is no shortage of interest in Grant.

According to James Edwards III of The Athletic, the Wizards, Kings and Blazers are the three teams showing the most interest in Grant. Others are also talking to the Pistons.

For instance, with the aforementioned, the Nets have also “poked around” in exploring a possible Grant deal, per Edwards. But any such deal involving Brooklyn would appear to be a long shot.

Grant, 27, is 6-foot-8 and averaging 19.3 points and 4.8 rebounds in 28 games. He underwent surgery on his right thumb in December and missed a long stretch. But he will be available to help whoever — either the Pistons or someone else — after the trade deadline.

Several league sources have told Hoops Wire they don’t think Detroit will get what it’s seeking in exchange for Grant, so he stands a good chance to remain a Piston after the deadline.
