Finally, NBA Has Zero Players In Health And Safety Protocols

Following a December flurry of players entering COVID-19 health and safety protocols, and the ensuing 10-day contracts, the NBA appears to be in the clear.

Per Luke Adams of Hoops Rumors, the league no longer has any players in health and safety protocols.

This, of course, follows a record number of 10-day signings to replace the massive amount of players who entered the protocols ahead of Christmas Day, and a little beyond. And all of that came amidst the NBA’s strict requirements on vaccination and masking.

But neither of those requirements didn’t anything to stop the onslaught of positive COVID tests that shook the league and made finding replacement players a priority.

For now, however, the surge appears to have slowed.

“It’s safe to assume individuals will continue to enter the protocols here and there, and there’s no guarantee there won’t be more team-wide outbreaks before the end of the season,” Adams wrote. “But we’re hopeful that the worst of those outbreaks are behind us for the 2021/22 campaign.”
