CLEVELAND — Lakers star LeBron James raised some eyebrows, perhaps strategically, when he told Jason Lloyd of The Athletic that the “door’s not closed” on a potential return to the Cavaliers.
So, NBA fans, what do you make of this bit of information? LeBron, in Cleveland? For a third time? It’s really not that hard to fathom, though as we wrote earlier, it would be hard to make it work salary-wise. And the Cavs sure don’t want to split up their promising (and already rising) young core for a 37-year old.
Yes, James still got game. And very much so. From the looks of things, he still may be a productive NBA player for at least another 2-3 years. But would coming back to the Cavs be a good thing for the Cavs? Vote in the poll below and leave any thoughts in the comments section at the bottom of this post.

This Cavs TEAM doesn’t need him. This young core of guys are so fun to watch. The relationship you see between these guys is fantastic. We don’t need to disrupt that with James coming back for a third time. Don’t need him, don’t want him!
Appreciate you taking the time to read and comment Christopher!
I agree with Christopher. Really don’t want or need him. I would be forced to stop watching this great young team.
I’m against trading for LeBron as the disruption to the core roster and their organic development and growth would not be worth one more ring with LeBron at the end of his career. His previous two departures decimated the team. You can’t let that happen a third time.
If LeBron would return on a league minimum contract, and that would happen only if the Cavs drafted Bronny, the ln yes, give the returning hometown hero his swan sing in the sun.
Interesting in Theory, could increase the threat factor for the finals ,,,, But DITTO with Bill above.
It would have to be Giving up NONE of the critical 1st & second group players Including Okoro, Stevens, Levert, Markkanen, Cedi, etc. Only on Cavs terms, Not LBJ’s,,, Keep the BIG 3 front court & Darius intact. He would make a good 2 spot & Okoro could come off the bench with With Love, Levert, Stevens Cedi.
That WOULD increase the Offensive side AND you could keep the Defense consistent & maybe a bit better too with both Okoro & Steven on the floor together defensively.
But iT can’t make the big disruption with the TEAM emotional Chemistry they already have. Seems as though that might be where the impossibillity lies! You can’t really give up anything much that could make it happen.. That Chemistry is exactly what makes it fun to watch NOW. & Can’t just make it a bunch of teaching sessions for Bronny.
I could see LBJ taking over the Kevin Love role for the Cavs. I just don’t see him accepting that. Also, in the 23-34 season, LBJ will move heaven and earth for a chance to play with Bronnie. That might involve moving more assets than Bronnie is worth.
However, if it happens, it would be the greatest story in sports.
