The Nets have agreed to a contract for the rest of the season with point guard Goran Dragic, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.
Dragic, 35, met with the Nets on Friday, per Marc Stein of The Stein Line, choosing them over several other playoff contenders, including the Lakers, Clippers, Warriors and Bucks.
He was traded to the Spurs by the Raptors on deadline day, then waived by the Spurs shortly thereafter. The Mavericks were supposedly another team with interest, as Dragic is a friend of star and fellow Slovenian Luka Doncic.
Dragic has appeared in just five games this season, and was away from the Raptors at the time of the trade to the Spurs for personal reasons. Mostly, it was because both Dragic and the Raptors were seeking a deal.
But he has had success as recently as last season, with the Heat, and the Nets are looking to add to their fill-ins for when Kyrie Irving is forced to miss games in Brooklyn and New York because of the city’s vaccine mandate.
