The NBA has moved quickly to address the scheduling disruptions caused by last week’s wildfires in Los Angeles and severe weather in Atlanta, rescheduling three of the postponed games and tweaking the dates for six others.
The league announced these changes in a press release, providing clarity on the new dates for the affected contests.
The game between the Hornets and Lakers, originally set for last Thursday, will now take place at Crypto.com Arena on February 19. Meanwhile, the Hornets’ matchup with the Clippers, which was supposed to occur last Saturday, has been rescheduled for March 16. The Rockets/Hawks game, postponed due to weather in Atlanta, will now be played on January 28 at State Farm Arena.
However, the Spurs-Lakers game that was also postponed last Saturday still does not have a new date. The NBA indicated that they will announce the make-up date for this contest at a later time.
To accommodate the rescheduled games, the league has also made several schedule adjustments for other teams.
The Bulls-Clippers game, originally scheduled for January 21 in Los Angeles, has been moved up to January 20. The Wizards-Jazz game, initially set for January 23 in Utah, has been shifted to March 19.
Additionally, the Jazz-Lakers game scheduled for February 11 in Los Angeles will now take place on February 10, and the Wizards-Clippers game originally scheduled for March 16 in L.A. will be played on January 23.
Other adjustments include moving the Wizards-Trail Blazers game, which was set for March 18 in Portland, up to March 17, and shifting the Clippers-Jazz game scheduled for March 19 in Utah to February 13.
Interestingly, the Jazz and Wizards, both currently near the bottom of the standings, are seeing multiple games moved around. The NBA may have made these changes to avoid impacting teams in the playoff race, ensuring that the adjustments don’t significantly affect the postseason picture.
