Ex-Bucks Big Man John Henson Signs With Puerto Rican Club

Free agent center/forward John Henson has agreed to a contract with Puerto Rican club Mets de Guaynabo, per JD Shaw of Hoops Rumors.John Henson

Henson, 31, is 6-foot-9 and was originally drafted by the Bucks with the No. 14 overall pick in 2012. He spent the first seven years of his career in Milwaukee, followed by one season with the Cavaliers.

He was traded to the Pistons late in the 2019-20 season and appeared in 11 games with Detroit before entering free agency. Since then, Henson has drawn NBA interest, but not yet enough to land another contract beyond a 10-day deal with the Knicks last April.

As Shaw noted, this will be Henson’s first sting playing professionally out of the U.S. Henson’s sister, Amber Henson, played basketball at Duke. He went to North Carolina. Their father, Matt Henson, played basketball at Norfolk State.
