Things haven’t been the same for Julius Randle and the Knicks this season, just one season after making the playoffs.
So it wouldn’t be a surprise if the Knicks look to make a roster shakeup this offseason, including moving Randle, the New York Daily News’ Stefan Bondy suggested on the HoopsHype podcast with Michael Scotto.
“Yeah, I think there’s a possibility, but I will caution that any talk of Randle getting traded at the deadline, I think there wasn’t much to it,” Bondy said. “There might have been some calls here and there, but nothing ever got serious at all. I think the Knicks are smart enough to understand why would they trade this guy at his lowest point when we wouldn’t get much back for him?
“… It’s still a very reasonable contract in terms of today’s NBA, and when you look at these insane numbers being thrown around for players who don’t produce as much as Randle. I still think he’s an asset.”

Randle, 27, is still a productive player and despite his up-and-down play (for him) this season, he could also continue to be a centerpiece for the Knicks moving forward. He is still averaging a double-double (20.1 points and 10.0 rebounds) and still makes some winning plays.
But the Knicks (28-38) are 3.5 games behind the Hawks for the final play-in spot, and time is running out.
Basically, with the way things are going, it would be easy to understand if the Knicks looked to make some serious moves this summer, and that will likely include exploring potential Randle deals.
