Spurs Signing Bismack Biyombo To 10-Day Contract

The San Antonio Spurs are set to sign veteran center Bismack Biyombo to a 10-day contract, according to NBA insider Chris Haynes.Bismack Biyombo, Spurs, NBA, Hornets

Biyombo, 32, has not yet appeared in a game this season but was a valuable contributor for the Memphis Grizzlies last year.

Biyombo brings 13 years of NBA experience, having played for the Hornets, Raptors, Magic, Suns, Grizzlies, and Thunder. Over the course of 839 career games (351 starts), he has averaged 5.1 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks.

Drafted by Charlotte with the seventh overall pick in 2011, Biyombo spent the first four seasons of his career with the Hornets before signing with the Toronto Raptors in 2015. His performance during Toronto’s 2015-16 playoff run solidified his reputation as a key contributor, averaging 6.2 points, 9.4 rebounds, and 1.4 blocks across 20 games.

His standout moments included a 17-point, 16-rebound double-double in a victory over the Miami Heat in the semifinals and a memorable 26-rebound game in the Eastern Conference Finals against Cleveland.

After his time in Toronto, Biyombo signed a lucrative contract with the Orlando Magic before returning to Charlotte for three seasons. He then spent time with the Suns, Grizzlies, and Thunder, making 27 starts for Memphis last year and averaging 5.2 points and 6.4 rebounds per game.

The 6-foot-8 Biyombo adds depth to a Spurs frontcourt that includes the highly anticipated Victor Wembanyama. With the Spurs waiving Patrick Baldwin Jr., the team has an open roster spot, meaning no additional moves will be required to sign Biyombo.

If the deal is finalized in time, Biyombo will be available for three games before the All-Star break, with the possibility of a second 10-day contract or a full-season deal depending on his performance.
