The Cavaliers have waived shooting guard RJ Nembhard, the team announced in a press release.
Nembhard has been with the team all season, signing a two-way contract in October. That contract was converted to a standard deal on March 31. He has appeared in 13 games as a rookie, averaging 1.2 points.
Nembhard, 23, is 6-foot-4 and went undrafted out of TCU. He appeared in 22 games with the G League’s Cleveland Charge, compiling averages of 24.1 points, 7.9 rebounds and 5.0 assists. He spent all four seasons at TCU, where he averaged 9.4 points, 3.1 rebounds and 2.5 assists in 26 minutes per game.
The decision to waive Nembhard could indicate that another roster move is on the way, though it is not clear exactly what that might be at the moment.
