NBA commissioner Adam Silver suggested this week that teams from other continents could eventually participate in official NBA competitions.

Speaking at the Bloomberg Philanthropies Global Forum (via Mike Vorkunov of The Athletic), Silver said he could envision teams from Europe or Africa joining future editions of the NBA Cup — and potentially even entering the playoffs down the line.

Silver added that advancements in aviation could make scheduling easier, saying there’s “no reason” four European teams couldn’t travel to play in New York, then host several games overseas before returning.

“I think it’s very doable in our league,” Silver said.
