The Cavaliers are nearing a contract agreement with shooting guard Danny Green, agent Raymond Brothers told Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
Green recently agreed to a buyout with the Rockets after last week’s trade from the Grizzlies. He has spent most of the season on the injured list and has appeared in just three games.
Last season, Green appeared in 62 games with the 76ers, providing his usual dose of perimeter defense, scoring 5.9 points and shooting 38 percent on 3-pointers.
Green, 35, is 6-foot-5 and has also spent time with the Lakers, Raptors and Spurs, after spending his rookie season with the Cavs. Cleveland originally drafted him with the No. 46 pick in the 2009 NBA Draft. He then went on to be a part of the Spurs’ championship roster in 2014, as well as the Raptors’ title-winning team in 2019. Along with that, Green was a member of the Lakers’ 2020 championship team in the Disney bubble.
Green will bring title experience to Cavs’ young core, winning a championship with Spurs in 2014. After being sidelined early with injury, he has appeared in 3 games this season (from Feb. 1-7).
