G League forward Alex Antetokounmpo was among five players cut by Greece ahead of the 2022 Eurobasket and 2023 FIBA World Championship qualifiers.
Antetokounmpo is the brother of Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo and forward Thanasis Antetokounmpo. Alex Antetokounmpo was recently acquired by the Wisconsin Herd, the Bucks’ G League affiliate.
Greece is coached by Dimitris Itoudis and both Giannis and Thanasis Antetokounmpo remain on the roster, as is point guard Tyler Dorsey of the Mavericks.
Alex Antetokounmpo, 21, is 6-foot-8 and played high school ball in Milwaukee before spending one season playing professionally in Europe. He then went undrafted by the NBA and signed on with the G League. Last season, he played for Raptors 905.
Along with Antetokounmpo, Greece cut Lefteris Mantzoukas, Omiros Netzipoglou, Giorgos Tanoulis and Giorgos Tsalmpouris, the team announced.
