The Mavericks finally stopped the bleeding Saturday, snapping a four-game losing streak behind a vintage night from Anthony Davis and a confident showing from Max Christie, according to Grant Afseth of Dallas Hoops Journal.
Davis looked every bit like the centerpiece Dallas hoped it was getting. The big man delivered 26 points on 9-of-15 shooting, pulled down 12 rebounds, handed out three assists and swatted five shots in 39 minutes.
It marked the 36th time in his career he’s posted at least 25 points, 10 rebounds and five blocks, tying Tim Duncan for the seventh-most such games in league history.
Christie provided the spark alongside him. The 22-year-old guard finished with 24 points on 10-of-13 shooting, added seven rebounds and threw down three dunks, continuing what has quietly been his best stretch of the season.
Over his past three games, Christie is averaging more than 22 points per night while shooting the lights out.
“Three might be the most of my career,” Christie joked afterward. “It felt good to be athletic out there, to be able to attack the rim and get a couple of dunks.”
The win came with one concern. P.J. Washington was limited to 12 minutes before spraining his right ankle and was ruled out for the remainder of the game, per Brad Townsend.
For one night, though, Dallas had enough answers.
