Hawks’ Saddiq Bey Out For Season With Torn ACL

According to NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, Atlanta Hawks forward Saddiq Bey is done for the season with a torn left ACL.

Bey got hurt on March 10 against the New Orleans Pelicans.

Bey appeared in 63 games for the Hawks this season. He averaged 13.7 points, 6.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists while shooting 41.6% from the field, 31.6% from beyond the arc and 83.7% from the free-throw line.

Bey becomes a restricted free agent this summer. As a restricted free agent, Bey can either re-sign with the Hawks or sign an offer sheet with another team. Atlanta would have 48 hours to match an offer sheet for Bey.

The Brooklyn Nets drafted Bey with the 19th overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft out of Villanova. The Nets then traded Bey to the Detroit Pistons.

Bey appeared in 204 games with the Pistons before getting traded to the Hawks in February 2023. The swingman has career averages of 14.1 points, 5.2 rebounds and 1.8 assists with the Pistons and Hawks.

Atlanta is 29-35. If the season ended today, the Hawks would face the Chicago Bulls in the 9-10 play-in tournament game. They would need to win two play-in games in a row to make the 2024 playoffs as the eighth seed in the East.
