Report: Bronny James To Only Work Out For Lakers, Suns Ahead Of NBA Draft

Bronny James has a famous father in LeBron James and a widely respected agent in Rich Paul, and it appears he will take full advantage as it relates to the NBA.Bronny James, NBA

Per Shams Charania of The Athletic, Bronny James has received invites for pre-draft workouts from 10 teams, but he will only work out for two — the Los Angeles Lakers and Phoenix Suns.

In other words, Bronny and Paul intend to dictate where he plays at the next level, and there is certainly nothing wrong with that. Bronny has legends on his side, and anyone in any industry is hoping for that. When they have it, they utilize it.

While Charania didn’t name any of the other teams, it is believed the Utah Jazz were among them.

For the record, the Lakers own the Nos. 17 and 22 overall picks in the 2024 NBA Draft. Charania suggested the Suns could draft Bronny at No. 20.

Interestingly, Paul recently told Chris Haynes of Bleacher Report that Bronny James will not be signing a two-way contract, suggesting that he will instead seek a standard rookie contract.

As for playing with LeBron with the Lakers, well, Paul discussed that, too.

“If it aligns where he can play with his dad, great,” Paul told Haynes. “Am I necessarily focused on that? No, not at all. I’m focused on a team-plan investment and a seriousness as it pertains to fit and opportunity.”

Bronny averaged just 4.8 points in his lone season with a highly disappointing USC squad. But in fairness, he did suffer a heart scare at the start of the season and scouts do seem to like his upside as a regular contributor to an NBA roster.

Now, it’s all about figuring out where he will receive a paycheck to play.

“We know that there’s gonna be some development necessary, but what does that actually look like?” Paul said. “The teams I’ve talked to know exactly where I stand. I’m not going to bulls**t around in this process. We’re going to execute our plan.”

All players have until Wednesday to withdraw from the draft.
