The Bucks are among the teams expected to try to sign point guard Goran Dragic, sources told Hoops Wire. Dragic was officially waived by the Spurs on Tuesday.
Others said to have an interest in Dragic: the Lakers, Clippers, Warriors and Bulls.
But the Bucks may have the inside track, given that they are coming off a title and feature reigning Finals MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo. Mostly, though, they have a need for more guards, and Dragic wants to go someplace where he will get consistent minutes.
Along with being linked to Dragic, the Bucks are expected to sign guard/forward DeAndre’ Bembry, as we relayed earlier.
Dragic, 35, was traded from the Raptors to the Spurs for forward Thaddeus Young and a 2022 second-round pick last week. The Spurs also received a 2022 protected first-rounder in the deal.
Dragic has appeared in just five games this season, but according to RealGM, “should have his pick of teams, as he’ll catch on for a 2022 playoff run.”
Even after signing Bembry, whenever it becomes official, the Bucks will still have two available roster spots. Dragic will have to wait 48 hours to clear waivers before signing with anyone, per NBA rules.
