The Bucks have signed first-round pick MarJon Beauchamp to his rookie-scale contract, the team announced in a press release.
“MarJon’s drive, focus and character have been infectious, and we’re excited to see his athleticism, defensive versatility, and basketball IQ impact our team,” Bucks GM Jon Horst said. “He will have a great opportunity to grow as a young player within our system and organization and we look forward to having him in Milwaukee.”
Beauchamp is a 6-foot-7 forward and was selected with the No. 24 overall pick. He is set to earn a little more than $2 million in the first year of the deal, $2.174 million in the second year and $2.278 million in the third. The final year of the contract consists of a team option.
He averaged 15.7 points, 6.4 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.5 steals in 21 games with the G League Ignite last season.
The official NBA Draft Guide on Beauchamp’s strengths: “Rangy and athletic wing with a versatile game. Opportunistic scorer; flourishes in transition. Multi-position defender with tremendous length and feet. Has a nice feel as a passer and playmaker.”
