The Bucks have signed forward/center Javin DeLaurier to a training camp contract, according to Keith Smith of Sportac.
In a related move, the Bucks also waived forward Mamadi Diakite, as relayed by JD Shaw of Hoops Rumors.
Both players went undrafted in 2020 — DeLaurier out of Duke, Diakite out of Virginia.
DeLaurier is 6-foot-10 and spent last season in the G League, playing seven games with the Greensboro Swarm. He then played with the Hawks in the Las Vegas Summer League.
Diakite is 6-9 and also spent most of last season in the G League after signing a two-way deal with the Bucks. He performed well, averaging 18.5 points and 10.4 rebounds in 12 appearances with the Lakeland Magic.
But that way performance didn’t earn him a return to Milwaukee — though the Bucks will still have to pay Diakite a partial guarantee of $100,000 if he doesn’t sign elsewhere, as noted by Rory Maher of Hoops Rumors.
Milwaukee now has 19 players on its training camp roster, one shy of the maximum allowed by the league. Thirteen players have guaranteed deals.
