Bucks forward Thanasis Antetokounmpo has exercised the $1.88 million option on his contract for the 2022-23 season, per Michael Scotto of HoopsHype.
Antetokounmpo, 29, is 6-foot-6 and appeared in 48 games this past season, averaging 3.6 points in about 10 minutes per game. He plays both forward spots.
He is of course the older brother of former back-to-back NBA MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo and just completed his third season in Milwaukee. In his second, the Bucks won the NBA championship.
Along with the Bucks, Thanasis Antetokounmpo has spent time with the Knicks, as well as in the G League, Spain and Greece.
As an aside, the Bucks have expressed trade interest in Serbian shooting guard Vasilije Micic, per Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report. Micic’s rights currently belong to the Thunder following the Al Horford trade with the Celtics. He last played for Turkish club Adadolu Efes but reports suggest he intends to play in the NBA next season.
