The Warriors are increasingly expected to explore a Jonathan Kuminga trade once he becomes eligible on Jan. 15, with league sources anticipating movement sometime before the Feb. 5 trade deadline, according to Marc Stein of The Stein Line.

Kuminga, 23, cannot be traded until mid-January due to contract restrictions, but rival teams have already begun circling. Chicago is one of them.

Stein reports the Bulls have previously registered interest in Kuminga and have raised his name in past discussions with Golden State, though none of those talks gained real traction.

Those exploratory conversations, per Stein, included various levels of engagement involving Alex Caruso, Zach LaVine and Nikola Vucevic, depending on timing and circumstances.

Nothing materialized, but the interest itself has lingered.

Golden State has long valued Kuminga’s athleticism and upside, yet his role has fluctuated, and the Warriors remain in a win-now posture built around Stephen Curry.

With the deadline approaching and roster balance still a question, Kuminga increasingly looks like their most realistic trade chip.

Whether Chicago re-enters the mix remains to be seen, but league executives expect Golden State to listen.
