The Chicago Bulls have officially signed NBA free agent forward Emanuel Miller to a two-way contract, according to a team release.
To make room for Miller, the Bulls waived DJ Steward, who had not appeared in any NBA games for Chicago this season. Steward had been impressive in the G League, where he posted averages of 19.9 points and 7.5 assists per game, showcasing his potential as a playmaker.
Miller, 24, went undrafted in the 2024 NBA Draft after spending five collegiate seasons — two at Texas A&M and three at TCU. In his final year with the Horned Frogs, Miller delivered a strong all-around performance, averaging 15.8 points, 6.1 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and 1.1 steals while shooting 48.6% from the field, 38.3% from three, and 81.5% from the free-throw line.
His solid play earned him an Exhibit 10 deal with the Dallas Mavericks this summer, though he was waived prior to the start of the 2024-25 NBA season.
After his release from Dallas, Miller found success with the Mavericks’ G League affiliate, the Texas Legends. In 16 games, he averaged 18.4 points, 8.1 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 1.3 steals per game, continuing his strong shooting with 48.3% from the field, 37.5% from beyond the arc, and 75% from the free-throw line.
Miller’s signing with Chicago gives the Bulls a versatile forward with the ability to contribute at both ends. Since he signed by Saturday, Miller will be eligible to play in up to 31 NBA games this season, a prorated share of the usual 50-game limit for two-way players.
Miller’s background, including his G League success and his connection to his younger brother, Leonard Miller of the Minnesota Timberwolves, makes him an intriguing addition to the Bulls’ roster.
