Bulls Announce Signing Of Former Lottery Pick Joshua Primo

The Bulls have signed guard/forward Joshua Primo to an Exhibit 10 contract for training camp, the team announced, via K.C. Johnson of NBC Sports Chicago.Josh Primo, Spurs, Bulls, NBA

Primo, 21, is 6-foot-6 and was originally selected by the Spurs with the No. 12 pick in the 2021 NBA Draft. But he was released following an investigation that concluded he performed multiple acts of indecent exposure toward women.

On the court, he showed some promise as a rookie, appearing in 50 games as a rookie, averaging 5.8 points and 2.3 rebounds with San Antonio. He appeared in just four games last season, before being waived by the Spurs on Oct. 28, 2022.

Primo signed a two-way deal with the Clippers on Sept. 29 of last year, before joining the team on a standard deal. He was waived by Los Angeles in April after appearing in just two games.

According to our Brandon Santomauro:

News regarding the Primo accusations broke in 2022, as a former Spurs sports psychologist alleged that he exposed himself in front of her. The former Spurs employee had sued the team and Primo over the incidents, and the complaint was settled out of court.

The suit stated Primo “repeatedly exposed himself up to nine times in total to Dr. Cauthen during individual private sessions, despite her numerous complaints about Primo’s improper sexual conduct to the organization’s leadership.”

“After being released by the Spurs last October, Primo told ESPN in a statement that he was dealing with previous trauma and had been looking for help since struggling with his mental health.”

The Bulls are in a season of change and entering an uncertain future. They not only sent DeMar DeRozan to the Sacramento Kings in a three-team sign-and-trade arrangement, they also are said to be trying to trade Zach LaVine, and potentially Nikola Vucevic. They also sent Alex Caruso to the Oklahoma City Thunder for Josh Giddey.

An Exhibit 10 contract is a non-guaranteed minimum-salary deal. It doesn’t count toward a team’s cap unless the player makes the final roster. It also can be converted to a two-way deal before the season begins or mean guaranteed money if a player is waived and then stays on the G League club for at least 60 days.
