Cam Thomas may be back in Brooklyn on a one-year qualifying offer, but his future with the Nets is no less murky.
NetsDaily noted that Thomas could end up squeezed as the franchise shifts its focus to the five first-round picks now on the roster. The 23-year-old guard, fresh off averaging 24 points in limited action, might find his minutes dwindling as Brooklyn leans into development. Maybe not, but maybe, too.
Not everyone around the league is impressed with how this has played out. One source told NetsDaily the situation was “another failure in asset management.”
Another summed up Thomas’ short-term outlook more bluntly: “Cam Thomas gets the QO to no surprise. Can’t imagine how many shots he’s going to take this year.”
So yes, Thomas has his deal and his de facto no-trade clause, but the real question is whether he has a long-term home in Brooklyn.
