Former NBA star Carmelo Anthony has been informed that he will be inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame as part of the 2025 class, per NBA insider Shams Charania of ESPN.Carmelo Anthony, Knicks, NBA

Anthony was among 17 finalists announced in February, and while the official list of new Hall of Famers will be revealed on April 5 at the NCAA Final Four, Charania’s report indicates that Anthony will be included.

The third overall pick in the 2003 NBA Draft, Anthony played 19 seasons in the league, appearing in 1,260 regular-season games. He averaged 22.5 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game, with a shooting line of .447/.355/.814. Anthony began his career with the Denver Nuggets, spending his first six-and-a-half seasons in the Mile High City before being traded to the New York Knicks, where he played from 2010 to 2017.

After his tenure with the Nuggets and Knicks, Anthony played for the Oklahoma City Thunder, Houston Rockets, Portland Trail Blazers, and Los Angeles Lakers between 2017 and 2022, before retiring.

The 6-foot-8 forward was a 10-time NBA All-Star and earned six All-NBA selections, including two Second Team and four Third Team honors. He also led the league in scoring during the 2012-13 season and ranks 12th on the NBA’s all-time points list. Anthony was one of 75 players named to the NBA’s 75th Anniversary team.

In addition to his NBA success, Anthony made significant contributions on the international stage, earning three Olympic medals with Team USA. He won gold in Beijing (2008), London (2012), and Rio (2016), and was celebrated for his ability to adjust to the FIBA game.

Following his retirement in 2023, Anthony has turned to podcasting, hosting the 7PM in Brooklyn podcast. In a recent episode, he expressed interest in joining an NBA ownership group, specifically mentioning the Washington Wizards as a team he would like to become involved with.

“Former player. I understand players. I understand personnel, I understand being fatigued,” Anthony said on his podcast, explaining his potential as a team owner. “I understand how to build teams, but I also understand what I don’t understand. I know what I don’t know. You also have to put people in those positions. President, GM, you put all the basketball acumen in those positions, and then you cover that with a business model.”
