Cavs Talk: Isaac Okoro, Jaylon Tyson, Offseason Possibilities, Running Hoops Wire

It’s a dead time in the NBA season, you know, given that NFL training camps have started. But for the Cavaliers, there are still some things to resolve.

I discussed the Cavs, the Isaac Okoro situation, Team USA, what my days running Hoops Wire look like and a whole lot more on the latest Hoops Wire Live show on 330 to Go. Check it out on YouTube or directly below.

As I said on the show, the Cavs and Okoro’s reps are talking, trying to work out a new deal for a restricted free agent. The ball is in the Cavs’ court, at least for now, as no one else has offered Okoro a dime (as of this moment).

But several others are interested in Okoro, via sign-and-trade scenarios. I listed the four teams believed to be showing the strongest interest in the video.

Could the Cavs trade Okoro? Yes, absolutely. And I can say this much — what they would get back in return likely wouldn’t move the needle. At least, not on paper. Because of that, if the Cavs were to move him it would likely be as a last resort. They would want a pick — as any player they got back for Okoro would likely be a bench guy.

So, why bother trading him at all? That’s a question that only Cavaliers president of basketball operations Koby Altman can answer.

Anyway, for the rest of my thoughts on the Cavs and other items in the hoops world, check out the latest show. As always, thanks a ton for following along and making this my full-time job.
