Cavs Talk: Breaking Down What’s Going On And What’s Ahead

CLEVELAND — It’s been quite a run for the Cavaliers. That much you know. But did you also know they’re just .500 over the last several weeks?

I’d say most of that is because of the schedule. Some of it is injuries. Some of it is … well, this is the NBA. You lose sometimes. Anyway, I discuss it all at great length with Rafa Hernandez-Brito on the latest Full Court Cleveland. Check out the full episode directly below.

We talk about the loss to the Rockets, the schedule ahead, and if there’s any reason at all for concern. I, of course, say there is not. The Cavaliers are 36-7 and despite missing Evan Mobley (and Caris LeVert and Isaac Okoro) are looking as competitive as ever.

This team just has no quit. Yes, Darius Garland missed a couple of big free throws the other night. Yes, Donovan Mitchell was fairly quiet (scoring-wise) in the second half in Houston. And yes, they lost a game they had every chance to win.

But as Mitchell told reporters afterward, it’s great for a team to learn about itself after a win. Sometimes, though, you learn after a loss. Again, that’s just the NBA.

We also discuss our biggest NBA pleasant surprises, and biggest disappointments. I even picked one team that’s a little of both.

The Cavaliers are members of the pleasant surprise department, and despite a few losses over the last couple of weeks, they’re still in great shape and a team you can get behind. That much is really not up for debate.
